Job Description: University School of Milwaukee seeks a team player to join the Accounting and Finance Department working full time, year round as a Bookstore Manager. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Bookstore Manager will be responsible for all aspects of bookstore operations including inventory and sales management, implementation of marketing initiatives and on-line sales, financial controls and budget management. Job duties include: • Manages the purchase and sale of all student textbooks, school supplies, school apparel, and general merchandise. Coordinates with faculty and staff to ensure availability of necessary books and supplies. • Develops and implements retailing policies including pricing, sales, margins, and product mix, while maintaining a priority of serving the needs of students, faculty, and staff. • Maintains operating and accounting records, including daily cash reconciliation, sales and inventory reports, invoice approvals, store returns and customer refunds. • Develops and implements bookstore operating procedures, and recommends appropriate related policies. • Develops, implements, and maintains the operating budget of the bookstore. • Coordinates marketing initiatives including implementation of online sales, design of informational publications for students, faculty, parents, and alumni, and development of all promotional materials. • Coordinates bookstore activities with other departments within the School. Provides operating hours during key student, parent, and alumni events. • Supervises part-time, volunteer and student employees. • Assist Director of finance with special projects as needed. • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Qualified candidates will have the following: • Bachelor degree preferred. • One to three years experience working in a retail management position. • Knowledge of retail operating principles, practices and procedures, including those of cashiering, budgeting and accounting, supervision, marketing/retailing, and inventory maintenance and control. • Demonstrated ability to effectively perform the duties as described above; ability to plan and organize retail operations to meet operational objectives in accordance with School goals; ability to work effectively with both internal and external constituents, provide excellent customer service, and maintain the image of the School.
