Silver Lake College Welcomes Former Negro League Baseball Player Dennis Biddle
In celebration of Black History Month, Silver Lake College will host Dennis Biddle, a former Negro League baseball player, at noon on Friday, February 21, 2014 in Endries Hall of the Franciscan Music Center. Biddle will speak about his experience in the League.
Dennis Biddle played for the Chicago American Giants of baseball’s Negro League during the 1950s. Biddle was picked up by the Chicago Cubs of the National Baseball League in 1955. During spring training that year, Biddle was injured and retired from baseball. After his career in baseball ended, he went on to earn a degree from UW-Milwaukee and eventually became a social worker.
After working for the state of Wisconsin for 24 years, Biddle retired and now travels around the state speaking about his experiences playing baseball.
This presentation at Silver Lake College is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Jessica Ehmler, Director of Student Activities, at 920-686-6278 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
