Silver Lake College to Host Senior Choral Music Recitals For Tammy Reigel And Danielle Brooks Saturday, April 6
Silver Lake College of the Holy Family is delighted to host Senior Music Recitals for two outstanding Music Education students on Saturday, April 6 in the College Chapel, 2406 South Alverno Road, Manitowoc. Tammy Reigel will present her senior recital at 4:30 pm, and Danielle Brooks will present her recital at 6:00 pm. Both will be choral performances, open to the public at no charge. A free will offering will be accepted.
Tammy is a Marshfield native majoring in Choral and General Music Education. She is involved in all five of the music ensembles that Silver Lake College offers: Handbell Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Concert Choir, and the Silver Lake Chorale, which recently completed a three-state upper Midwest tour over spring break in early March. She is the current president of the Chorale. Tammy has also served as an elected board member of CNAfME (Collegiate National Association for Music Educators) for the past three years, holding the positions of Vice President, President, and Treasurer. She has been a percussionist with the National Band Association All-Star Band for the past two years. After student teaching in the fall, Tammy will seek a full-time music teacher position in the Lakeshore area.
The repertoire included in Tammy’s recital spans four centuries and numerous styles and genres. Her performance will include music by Aaron Copland, Samuel Barber, Johannes Brahms, Claude Debussy, and George Gershwin. Pieces from Vivaldi’s Gloria will also be performed, as well as contemporary theatre pieces from Stephen Schwartz, Stephen Sondheim, and Jason Robert Brown.
Danielle is also from Marshfield and is a multi-ensemble performer, with participation in the SLC Handbell Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Concert Choir, and Silver Lake Chorale. She is a member of CNAfME and serves as secretary of the Silver Lake College chapter. Danielle is interning with the Silver Lake Children’s Choir under the direction of Carol Storck, and with the Silver Lake Chorale directed by Damon Carlson. Danielle’s musical interests include mallets, percussion, vocal and choral music. In the future, she would like to teach elementary music and hopes to direct a children’s choir.
The music in Danielle’s recital ranges over several centuries. Her performance will include music by George Frideric Handel, Henry Purcell, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Christoph Willibald Gluck, Camille Saint-Sæns, and Eric Thiman. Danielle will also perform several art songs composed by Gabriel Fauré, Hugo Wolf and Roger Quilter, as well as musical theatre pieces from Rodgers and Hammerstein, and Gilbert and Sullivan.
