Silver Lake College Presents Scholarship Benefit Gala, ‘A Starlit Night,’ On April 12 at Franciscan Music Center

It’s time to roll out the red carpet.

On April 12, Silver Lake College proudly presents its eighth annual scholarship benefit gala, “A Starlit Night,” at the new Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance, located on campus at 2406 S. Alverno Road.

Guests at the black-tie optional event will enter via a red carpet and be treated to fabulous food and wine, wonderful entertainment, a wide array of live and silent auction items, and the opportunity to contribute to student scholarships.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction.

A five-course gourmet meal, prepared by Manitowoc restaurant Courthouse Pub, starts at 6:30 p.m. The entrée is filet of beef in a veal reduction topped with roasted mushrooms served over cream cheese, and mashed potatoes with fresh vegetables. A vegetarian alternative also is available.

During dinner in the spacious atrium, guests will be treated to a singing and dancing show spotlighting Silver Lake College students. The emcee will be Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nickels, a student at Silver Lake College.

Student performers include Jeffrey Erdman, Bridget Geniesse, Christopher Guy, Emily Laurin, Justin Mrotek, Lucy-Ann Muabe, Katie Oberst, Thomas Roberts, Brittieny Simmer and Shaughn VanGinkel. The chorus includes Callie Berchem, Misty Bowe, Emily Cattani, MacKenzie Lambert, Paige Owen and Dawn Welling.

The crew is comprised of Katherin Crevier, Ashley Day, Abby Gerhard, Joel Griffith, Alexandra Herman, Christopher Jason, Hunter Johnson, Craig Krueger, Amanda Kudick, Robert Pauly, Kortney Reissman, Elizabeth Shavlik, Katherine Sohn and Kathleen Van Sleet.

After the performance, guests can bid on several fantastic live auction items, including:

  • Napa Valley Backroads & Railways package, featuring a five-night stay at Meritage Resort and Spa in Napa Valley, Calif., as well as roundtrip airfare for two, chauffeured luxury sedan service, and a gourmet dinner for two on the Napa Valley Wine Train.
  • New Orleans Jazz & Dining package, featuring a three-night stay at the Renaissance Pere Marquette in New Orleans, as well as roundtrip airfare for two, VIP admission for two to the Preservation Hall of Jazz, and a six-course dinner with wine pairings for two at Commander’s Palace Restaurant
  • Dinner at the Manitowoc home of Silver Lake College President Dr. Chris Domes and his wife, Mary, with the meal being prepared by Silver Lake College instructor Fr. Dave Beaudry.

Then, guests will head into Endries Hall, where they’ll be treated to another engaging performance by Silver Lake College students.

The shows are directed and produced by Thomas Roberts. The music director is Damon Carlson. Also assisting are Samantha Deeley (choreographer), Max Ver Voort (technical director), Callie Berchem and Emily Cattani (makeup and hair design), and Amber Kiel and Erin Kiel (video production).

The evening will conclude with a dessert reception in the atrium.

Admission to “A Starlit Night” is $125 per person or $1,000 for a table of eight, which includes a bottle of champagne for each person at the table to take home.
