Silver Lake College Presents Fall Instrumental Concert
The Silver Lake College of the Holy Family instrumental ensembles, under the baton of Jeremiah Eis, will present their Fall Concert on Friday, October 11 at 7:30 pm. The performance will be held in the beautiful, 464-seat Endries Hall in the new Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance at Silver Lake College, 2406 South Alverno Road, Manitowoc. The concert will feature the Silver Lake Jazz and Wind Ensembles, and also include a premier performance by the Silver Lake Saxophone Ensemble. Tickets are $5, available at the door or in advance by calling 920-686-6173.
The Silver Lake Jazz Ensemble will begin the exciting night with “There’s a Small Hotel” from the Rodgers & Hart musical On Your Toes. Other charts included in the program will be the Latin number Watch What Happens, Over the Rainbow (featuring vocalist Emily Laurin), and the jazz standard Don’t Get Around Much Anymore.
The Silver Lake Wind Ensemble, a student/alumni/community ensemble consisting of approximately 45 musicians, will perform Symphonic Fanfare by Franco Cesarini, Autumn on White Lake by Samuel Hazo, and Inglesina (Little English Girl) march by Davide Delle Cese. Their featured selection will be selections from Johann de Meij’s Symphony No. 1 (The Lord of the Rings), based on the book trilogy of the same title. Also featured in the program will be Celtic Suite, an exuberant work that will be performed by the Silver Lake Saxophone Ensemble. The concert will close with the Blessing of St. Francis.
