Porta Fidei; The Renewal of Faith and the New Evangelization, October 18 at 7:00 pm

Pope Benedict XVI has pronounced a “Year of Faith” for Catholics that began on October 11, 2012, the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council. In recognition of this Silver Lake College of the Holy Family is pleased to present a colloquium titled "Porta Fidei; The Renewal of Faith and the New Evangelization." Sister Marie Kolbe Zamora, S.T.L., Director of the Silver Lake College Theology Program, will be speak on Pope Benedict XVI's letter Porta Fidei on Thursday, October 18th from 7:00-7:45 PM in the Silver Lake College Chapel, located at 2406 South Alverno Road in Manitowoc. The event is free and open to the public. A native of Houston, Texas, Sr. Marie Kolbe earned degrees in both philosophy and theology from the University of St. Thomas in Houston. Most recently, she received a License in Dogmatic Theology from Rome’s Pontifical Gregorian University and is currently engaged in writing a dissertation to complete her doctorate from the same university. Her areas of concentration include medieval theology and philosophy with a focus on the writings of Saints Francis, Clare, Bonaventure and Thomas Aquinas; systematic theology in general with a focus on liturgical theology, sacraments and ecclesiology. She is passionate about the New Evangelization and the intellectual and cultural formation of a new generation of Catholics who manifest and can articulate convicted faith in Christ to a post-modern world.
