Faculty Colloquium on February 18, Dr. Michaeleen Golay
Silver Lake College presents a Faculty Colloquium, “Composition and Function of Forest Flora: Not All Forests Are Created Equal”, presented by faculty member, Dr. Michaeleen Goley. The presentation will take place on Tuesday, February 18 at 1:00 pm in the Heritage Room.
Remnant forests play a critical role in our highly-altered Midwestern landscapes. This presentation will discuss new research into how we can understand links between the types of plants present in a forest, their role in nutrient uptake and water quality, and how to go about restoring such functions in degraded forests.
Dr. Michaeleen Golay joined the Biology and Natural Sciences faculty at SLC last August. She received her PhD in forest biology from Iowa State University. Her professional interests focus on ecology and collaborative learning in the classroom and beyond. Michaeleen and her husband have been enjoying hiking and exploring the forests and ecosystems of northeast Wisconsin with their dogs.
