Artist Music Series Concert Featuring The Bells Of The Lakes On Feb. 9 At 3 pm

Silver Lake College Presents New Music Pedagogy and Performance Program

Silver Lake College of the Holy Family is excited to announce its new Music Performance and Pedagogy Program, beginning in the fall of 2014. Music Performance and Pedagogy is aimed at students who are looking to pursue a music education career in a small setting, like one-on-one teaching. It will be offered in voice, string, or brass (wind). Silver Lake is one of three schools in the state that offers a pedagogy and performance program. Besides being the only school to offer the program in a 300-mile radius, SLC is the only school offering the program in voice, string, or brass at the undergraduate level and the only school to offer Early Childhood Pedagogy and Practicum.

Silver Lake College of the Holy Family is delighted to present “Soup with Substance: The Language of Love” on Thursday, February 6, at 5:30 pm in the College Dining Room (first floor, main building), 2406 South Alverno Road, Manitowoc. Guests will enjoy hearty homemade soups and breads served up by local restaurants and bakeries while they go on a hilarious journey of the “Language of Love” with humorist, performer and author, Liysa Callsen, whose parents and husband are deaf.

Silver Lake College to Host Exhibit for Guest Artist Benjamin Sloma Jan. 21 – Feb. 22

Silver Lake College of the Holy Family is pleased to host a guest artist exhibit featuring paintings by Benjamin Sloma in the College’s Art Wing Gallery, on the first floor inside the east entrance to the main College building, 2406 South Alverno Road, Manitowoc, from January 21 through February 22, 2014. The exhibit is open to the public without charge from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Friday and Saturday.

Silver Lake College to Host Food & Wine Pairing Event on January 25 in the new Franciscan Music Center

Silver Lake College of the Holy Family is delighted to host its first annual Food & Wine Pairing Event on Saturday, January 25th at 6:00 pm. The event will be held in the stunning glass and stone clad Ariens Atrium of the beautiful new Franciscan Music Center on the west side of the College campus, 2406 South Alverno Road, Manitowoc. The evening will begin with a champagne reception, followed by five courses of mouth-watering hors d’oeuvres, each paired with a delightful wine selection. Guests will learn how tastes and flavor notes of foods are accentuated by different wines, and how to make a perfect pairing. Entertainment for this elegant evening will include a live jazz quartet. Tickets are $50 per person, and each includes a complimentary bottle of wine. Makes a wonderful gift! Silver Lake College Receives Music Grant from Green Bay Packers Foundation

Silver Lake College of the Holy Family is honored to be among a select group of organizations to be awarded grants by the Green Bay Packers Foundation, presented at a luncheon in the Lambeau Field Atrium on Tuesday, December 17th. Accepting the award on behalf of the College was President Chris E. Domes, accompanied by his wife, Mary Domes. The grant will be used for materials and equipment in the College’s music program, housed in the new Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance, which was dedicated in early October.
