Silver Lake College Announces 2013-2014 Men’s Basketball Schedule
The Silver Lake College Men’s Basketball Program announced its schedule for the 2013-2014 season, and it includes their first ever regular season game against an NCAA D-II opponent. On Tuesday, November 19th the Lakers will travel to Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. The schedule has the Lakers traveling to Viterbo for an early season tournament and possible match up with defending NAIA D-II national champion, Cardinal Stritch University. The Lakers will also play a game at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee on Wednesday, November 6th against Calumet College of St. Joseph out of Indiana. The Lakers open their home regular season on Saturday afternoon November 2nd against Viterbo University.
In a recent interview, new head coach Phil Budervic, who also serves as the College’s athletic recruiting coordinator, told the Herald Times Reporter that playing better competition is the first step in transforming the program. “I’m very excited,” he said. “We know it’s going to be tough. But we’re moving the program forward with scheduling. We have to play the games, play the teams, to recruit better student athletes....”
