Silver Lake College of the Holy Family held its seventy-fourth annual commencement ceremony on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at the Capitol Civic Centre. 78 undergraduate and 92 graduate degrees were conferred. Congratulations to the following graduates:

Silver Lake College of the Holy Family is pleased to announce that Lyndsay Holschbach and Nick Spencer have been named to the USCAA All-Academic Team. Lyndsay, a sophomore guard from Reedsville, was the 3rd leading scorer and 2nd leading rebounder for the Lady Lakers this season. The Lady Lakers ended the season with a 16-11 record. Nick, a senior guard and graduate of Manitowoc Lutheran, was captain of the Lakers and a leader for the men’s basketball team. The Lakers had an 11-15 record this season. Nick was also named to the Honorable Mention All American team and was in the top 5 in the entire USCAA, shooting over 50% from the three-point line. Both Lyndsay and Nick are outstanding role models both on the court and in the classroom.
Silver Lake College of the Holy Family has been named to the 2012 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. This is the highest federal recognition a college can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service learning, and civic engagement.

The Chamber of Manitowoc County held its annual dinner and meeting on Tuesday at the Holiday Inn in Manitowoc. Silver Lake College of the Holy Family’s Director of Experiential Learning and Career Services, Jan Algozine, received the Education Impact Award. Fr. Dan Felton, a member of the SLC Board of Directors also received an award at the event, the Joseph P. Schmitt Speak Up Award, acknowledging his support for various Manitowoc County causes. Congrats Jan and Fr. Dan!
On Saturday, January 21, 2012, the Silver Lake College of the Holy Family Board of Directors met and approved the construction of a new 35,000 square foot Music Education and Performance Center. This state-of-the-art facility will provide practice and performance space for the Silver Lake College Music Program and the Manitowoc Conservatory of Music and includes a performance auditorium, recital hall, classrooms, practice studios and social gathering space. The facility will also be available for public performances and events.
Silver Lake College of the Holy Family’s Director of Campus Ministry and seven students will be taking a pilgrimage to the March for Life in Washington DC from January 22-24. The group will be traveling with 50 people from the Diocese of Green Bay to join in a gathering with nearly 200,000 other pilgrims from around the country. Students will have the opportunity to experience an active role as a citizen of the United States and will meet with Representatives Sean Duffy and Reid Ribble.
